A grandparent was walking with their grandchild. They were enjoying the sun kiss them on the cheek as it peeked through the trees. They came to a clearing and noticed in the center of an open field a full, mature and flourishing tree. It was statuesque and silhouetted by the blue mid-day sky. I believe people are like trees. They are full in mid summer stride and able to withstand the elements. The strength of a tree is only as good as what is unseen in the ground. Its real health is found in the root system, the soil and the water below the surface. My passion is that you would be strong as that tree; rooted, vibrant and safe in order to feel God’s acceptance.
Trees have always captured my attention and fascinated me. I look at them in order to imagine what stories they could tell. A life that is healthy is one that recognizes in order to grow strong we must also grow deep, into the soil.
Happiness. We all want it but it seems so elusive. I remember the days when I could make my daughters belly laugh and giggle while playing a game of peek-a-boo. I know it sounds sentimental, that is how I roll.
Life is difficult but it is a good difficult. I have lived enough life with people to know that most folks are doing the best that they can. We get up, go to work, pay the bills, are responsible, and contribute to make the world a better place.
